CDRO conducted a rally from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar and held a dharna protest programme demanding the release of Professor GN Saibaba and other 5 members and release Seven fact finding members of TDF by Sukma (Chattishgarh) police on 30th April 2017 at Jantar Mantar. Hundreds of people from different States of India belonging to various organizations have participated in the dharna. The following eminent personalities addressed the dharna gathering
1. Gautam Navlakha (EPW, PUDR) inaugurated the dharna and demanded the immediate release of Prof.G.N. Sai baba and 5 others who are languishing in the Nagpur Central Jail, Maharashtra. He also demanded the repeal of acts like UAPA, AFSPA and MOCA.
2. Mrs. Vasantha wife of Professor GN Saibaba narrated the ordeal of Saibaba and she said that the jail authorities are denying necessary medicines to Saibaba and fear that he may die in the jail if inhuman treatment of the State continues.
3. Asish Gupta (CDRO), CS Chandrashekar (APDF), Sandhaya (POW), Professor Padmaja Shaw (TDF), Lal Bahadur Singh, Prabhal (DSU0), Vem Prakash(Bigul), Narayana Rao (CLC), Ravichander (Committee for the Release of GN Saibaba), Nalamasaha Krishna (TPF), Devendra (CMS), Krishna (KNPS, AP), Abhinav (KNPS-T), Mahesh (TVV), Koteswara Rao (PKM),Y Venkateshwar Rao (PDM), Dr. Gangadhar (DTF), Dr. Aparna(IFTU), Indira etc have also addressed the dharna.
4. Dr. GN Saibaba Defense Committee member Dr. Hany Babu narrated the steps taken by the committee for release of GN Saibaba. He also expressed his worry on the deteriorating health condition of GN Saibaba.
The Demands are:
i) Release immediately Professor GN Saibaba along with 5 others who were sentenced to life imprisonment and are languishing in Nagpur Central Jail.
ii) Lift all the cases booked on the seven member fact finding team of Telengana Democratic Front and release them immediately and unconditionally.
iii) Release 13 leaders of Workers Union of Maruti, Gurgaon who were sentenced to life
iv) Scrap all the draconian acts like UAPA, AFPSA, MOCA, Chhattisgarh Public Security Act, Andhra Pradesh Public Security Act.
v) Stop unleashing terror on adivasis to plunder the rich resources of Indian forests.
vi) Stop attacks on Rights Activists in the name of Cow Protection by RSS-BJP combine
vii) Implement with true spirit the Fifth Schedule of PESA in adivasi areas
viii) Release farmers and activists arrested in the Bhangar movement and stop land acquisition.
