Delhi, Apr 13: Joint protest demonstration against repression on Bhangar movement

*Join JOINT PROTEST Demonstration*

*2.30pm 13 April, Banga Bhavan, New Delhi*

The mass peasant movement in Bhangar, South 24 Parganas in West Bengal has been giving spirited resistance for land, livelihood, environment and democracy for over 1.5 years. In the last few days, once again, under cover of and in continuation of election-time violence, TMC goons and the Police State has scaled up the attacks. _Villagers daily face armed attacks of bombing, firing, burning down committee offices and houses, and so on. Four movement activists (Amitava, Biswajit, Shankar, Ratul) have been arrested. Ratul has been put under UAPA, Arms Act & other totally baseless charges. The local struggle committee, which sought to use the upcoming Panchayat elections as a referendum of the movement, has been stopped from standing in the elections._ This is part of both the election-time political violence in the State (in over half the 393 centers, candidates not allowed to file nominations) as well as part of the overall growing anti-democratic atmosphere across the country which the ruling class parties impose on the people.

Thousands of peasants continue the resistance in Bhangar. Stand in Solidarity.

⚫Stop Repression on People’s Movement and Democratic Rights
⚫Free all activists of Bhangar movement immediately and scrap all false charges
